William Laughlin was played by Yaphet Kotto in 1987 film adaptation of The Running Man.
He was a teacher, a member of the Resistance and a friend of Ben Richards and Harold Weiss in prison, where he helped in the escape together with the others. He was later imprisoned again together with Weiss and forced to be in Running Man together with Ben, Weiss and later Amber. During the show he helped Ben kill Subzero.
Later Buzzsaw killed him while savin Ben´s life, but gave Ben information to avenge his and Weiss´s death after Buzzsaw´ s death by telling him and Amber, where the nearest Resistance base is, so that Amber could transmit the code to them and shut the show down for good, which they did.
