Billy Halleck (died 1984) is the main protagonist of the novel Thinner. He is a very fat man who is heading into heart attack country. He ran over the old gypsy woman and was cursed by her father because of it. He rapidly loses weight. He goes on a search for the gypsy man. With the help of Richie Ginelli he gets the gypsy man to take the curse out of him and into the "gypsy pie". He has to feed the pie to someone to reverse the curse. He decides to feed it to his wife. The next morning he finds out that his daughter ate some of the pie too. Out of grief he decides to eat some of the pie too, presumably ending his life.
