Vera Appleton is the ex-wife of Edward Appleton and the mother of Alice and Aidan Appleton, and a resident of Weston, Massachusetts. She is a character in the novel Under the Dome.

On Dome Day, she was vacationing in Chester's Mill, Maine with her children. She had driven to Yoder's in Tarker's Mill for food, and was locked out of the town when the barrier appeared.
