The Shop

The Department of Scientific Intelligence, more commonly known as "The Shop", was a secret government agency. In 1969 they conducted experiments with the chemical Lot Six (Firestarter). It was also speculated that they were involved in the Arrowhead Project (The Mist). They were also sent to investigate the aftermath of the incident in Haven, Maine (The Tommyknockers) and mentioned in The Stand.

The headquarters was based in two farmhouses outside Longmont, Virginia, which was destroyed by Charlie McGee.

The Shop also had a base on Maui, where they kept two of the Lot Six test subjects.
