"The Monkey" is a short story written by Stephen King. It was originaly published in the November 1980 issue of Gallery, and later included in King's own 1985 collection Skeleton Crew.
The Monkey follows the life of Hal Shelburn,, and how a cymbal-banging monkey toy follows him around throughout his life and when it bangs it's cymbals it can kill/predict the death of people in a mysterious manner.
