Notice

Just because you fit the requirements does not mean you automatically can get promoted. All applications are subject to denial.

What we look for

The following are some of the things that are not requirements per se, but some things we do look for when deciding whether or not to promote someone.

  • Carry yourself respectably. If we see that you're already a respectable good natured person we'll be much more likely to promote you.
  • Good grammar. This ties into respectability, it looks good if you take the time to make sure your edits and posts are all in good grammar.
  • Commitment to neutrality and fairness. If we see you arguing vehemently about something, or constantly getting into disagreements, we'll be less likely to promote you as Moderators should always do their best to be impartial.
  • Activness. If we see that you take days to respond to messages we're not likely to promote you, as Moderators should be very active users so that, when needed, they can respond to reports as fast as possible.
  • Helpfulness. Helpfulness goes a very long way in terms of promotion. If we see you out there giving detailed instructions on how to do something, or offering help when you see someone in need, we're going to be more inclined to promote you.
  • Good knowledge of all of Stephen King's works. This won't affect your ability to Moderate in any sense other than in terms of off-topic content, but if you have no clue about anything when it comes to King, you're not going to be able to contribute nearly as much or answer questions regarding the topic, etc.
  • Patience and tolerance. We want to see these attributes in our Staff, they are critical to keeping Staff/User relationships good.

Apply

To apply fill out this form, then post it in the Moderator Promotions Discussions category. At first, it's completely up to the community, but after two weeks if you receive a mainly good response, 75% or more in favor, your post will be announced to ensure everyone on the Wiki sees it. A week following the announcement the current Wiki staff will go through the post tallying up votes, if you meet the required 75% the staff will begin deliberations on whether or not to promote you - this is to ensure the following:

  • All of the requirements have been met
    • Edit/post count.
    • If you're blocked on any Wikis (Fandom will be contacted to run a check on the applicant).
    • Length since your last warning/block on this Wiki.

Just as it's possible voting users did not notice these things.

Notice

  • For a vote to count there must be at least a sentence or two explaining why the voter believes the way they do. If someone just says "Agree" or "Disagree", their vote will not be tallied.
  • The current Wiki staff may deem that we have enough moderators as-is, if that is the only reason you are not promoted you will be high on the list of possible moderators in the future.
  • It is possible for the Wiki staff to not accept an application that has received good favor from the community for a nondisclosed reason. This will not happen often, but it may.

(you may put history of Moderating on platforms such as Discord if you wish, but it will not hold as much weight as history Moderating on Fandom)
  • What are some indisputable facts about you that make you a good candidate for promotion (e.g: Global rights, coding abilities, etc.)?
  • Why do you think you'd be a good fit for whatever position you're applying for?
