Bill first purchased the bike at the Bike and Cycle Shoppe on Centre Street in Derry, Maine for $24. He dangerously rode downhill on main street to save his friend, Eddie's life after his asthma closed his lungs.
In 1985, he returned to Derry and again bought the bike from Secondhand Rose, Secondhand Clothes for $20, and used it to revive his wife, Audra after she fell into a catatonic state.
