Rachel Creed (nee Goldman) is a supporting protagonist of the Stephen King multiverse.

Serving as one of the main protagonists of Pet Sematary, and it's two film adaptations.

She is the wife of Louis Creed, and the mother of Ellie and Gage.

Novel[]

The Creed Family moved to Ludlow, Maine from Chicago. Next to their house was a road that claimed the lives of many pets. Rachel’s son, Gage, got stung by a bee and was helped by an old fellow named Jud Crandall. Jud then becomes a close family friend.

Jud ended up showing Louis and his family the Pet Cemetery, which had a sign that was spelled "Pet Sematary". Later, in the story, Ellie's cat, Winston Church, was run over. Louis then ended up resurrecting Church by using the burial ground beyond Pet Cemetery.

We learn that Rachel has a fraught relationship with death after she tells the story of her older sister Zelda who had a degenerative disease which caused her to be bedridden. Rachel admits to being afraid of her sister and also blames herself for Zelda's death.

At the midpoint of the novel Gage is hit and killed by a truck on the road outside the Creed's home. Rachel falls into a deep depression after this and her and Louis' marriage starts to suffer. At Gage's funeral Rachel's father blames Louis for Gage's death prompting an altercation at the funeral which upsets Rachel. Rachel is eventually sent to Chicago to spend time with her parents after the funeral while Louis in secret plans to resurrect Gage. On the plane ride there, Elle has a nightmare and tells Rachel she saw deceased jogger Victor Pascow. Rachel can sense something is wrong and frantically makes her way back to Ludlow, but is seemingly having bad luck at every turn, missing her flight to Bangor and having her rental car break down at one point. She rents a car but as she grows closer to the house claims she feels as if she is running into a slingshot, that something does not want her to return.

Upon returning to Ludlow Rachel does not see Louis' car in the driveway and decides to walk to Jud's house in an attempt to locate Louis. It is here she encounters the resurrected Gage and is killed. When Louis finally arrives to kill Gage he finds Rachel's dead body. After burning down the house Louis carries Rachel's body to the Pet Sematary.

The novel ends with Louis playing Solitaire in his own kitchen. Louis was about to deal a fresh hand when he heard his back door open. Louis then looked at his cards while footsteps approached. A cold hand then fell on his shoulder and Rachel, with a grating voice that was full of dirt said: "Darling."

Pet Sematary (1989)[]

The film's ending is similar to the novel but expands the scene a bit: Rachel returns, her face somewhat mutilated and missing an eye. As she and Louis embrace, Rachel picks up a kitchen knife. The frame goes black and we hear Louis scream.

Pet Sematary 2[]

Rachel the zombie does not appear in the sequel, but it is mentioned that she died for unknown reasons, possibly, killed by Louis

Pet Sematary (2019)[]

In the 2019 Remake, Louis was killed in the end by a resurrected Rachel and was resurrected by Ellie, who was resurrected earlier by Pet Sematary instead of Gage.
