Mr. Dubay is the stepfather of Steven Bishoff Dubay and a minor character in the horror novel, It. He is also the spouse of Mrs. Dubay.
His stepson was convicted in 1984 (along with his friends John Garton and Chris Unwin) for the alleged murder of Adrian Mellon. During his debriefing with the Derry Police, Steven desperately urged his interrogators into letting him speak with his mother. He told them “I’ve got to get her to mellow out my stepfather, or there is going to be one hell of a punching match when I get home” (which clearly suggested that his stepfather had physically abused him on a daily basis).
