Misery's Child

Misery's Child was written by Paul Sheldon and detailed the death of Misery Chastain, the main protagonist of his Misery novels, while she gave birth to her first child. Paul's' "number one fan" Annie Wilkes (who captured Paul and nursed him while he recovered from injuries he sustained in a car wreck) reads the book while holding Paul in captivity and becomes increasingly aggressive towards her captive, forcing him to write a new novel entitled Misery's Return.
