John Koontz or simply known by his surname Koontz is a minor character in the Stephen King Multiverse.

Serving as a minor character in both IT 1990 miniseries and its remake sequel adaptation IT: Chapter Two.

He is an asylum guard at Juniper Hill Asylum who falsely accused Henry Bowers from being responsible for the missing murder kids in 1960 and sent him in prison.

Miniseries[]

While at the Juniper Hill Asylum where he has kept Henry imprisoned for his false responsibility of the murdered kids. When he hears Henry awake from the lobby and asks him if he needs some help but shakes his head no and replies by saying “That’s a good boy” and smacks his hands. When Henry Bowers walks slowly out from his cell while Koontz sees him trying to escape and opens the door and deals with him for attempting to escape from the asylum, until he recognizes a clown steps by and blocks Henry and gets shocked while having a heart attack from seeing IT while he gives him a hi and drops a case of pennies while in a doberman pinscher form, IT barks at Koontz prior to mauling him to death.

IT: Chapter Two[]

Unlike the miniseries, he doesn’t arrest Henry from his murder of Butch Bowers instead his partner. While in night duty he can be watching a meme on his phone with a fox typing on a computer making him chuckle, while he realizes in the camera that he notices the Meaner Nurse is walking pass as he presses a button to unlock the door making him run up to him while reluctantly sees the Meaner Nurse has his uniform is gruesomely covered in blood making him fall to the ground while Henry Bowers scares him while Koontz is shocked to see Henry has killed the Meaner Nurse. It is unknown what happened to him in the second film, there is no confirmation that he was killed by Henry as well, but was likely killed offscreen.
