Hilda Reppler was an elderly third grade teacher in Bridgton, Maine. She, and several others, were trapped in the Federal Foods Company supermarket when a thick mist covered the town.

- In the film she was called Irene Reppler.
- In the film, she is shown to very strongly dislike Mrs. Carmody. In one scene, Irene, fed up with Mrs. Carmody's constant preaching, threw a can of peas at her and yelled at Mrs. Carmody to shut up. In the novella, Hilda had no interaction with Mrs. Carmody whatsoever.
