Hannibal is a German shepherd dog that belongs to the Reed family in Stephen King’s 1996 novel The Regulators in which he wrote under his pseudonym, Richard Bachman.

  • Just before the first “Power Wagon” drives down Poplar Street to fatally shoot paperboy Cary Ripton, Hannibal is playing “fetch” with Jim and Dave Reed.
  • After Cary Ripton was murdered, the mysterious gunman points his weapon at bickering siblings Ellie and Ralphie Carver. He is about to fire when Hannibal distracts him, causing him to shoot Hannibal instead and spare the Carver children.
