Amsel Bickford was a minor character in Stephen King's novel, It.

Along with his fellow employer David Hartwell, he was a union ring leader who often worked around several of the Kenduskeag's construction areas. The four Union men, including Andy DeLesseps and Claude Heroux, checked into the Brentwood Arms Hotel the night before their murder likely at the hands of It, or It influencing William Mullers men: Tinker McCutcheon, Floyed Calderwood, Lathrop Rounds, David Grenier, and Eddie King.

He was found floating in the Kenduskeag, decapitated by a woodsmans two-hander during the May of 1905, with the word "UNION" pinned to the back of his shirt.
