Amanda Gilbert is a supporting character in Pet Sematary Two. She is played by Lisa Waltz.
Biography[]
Amanda was the mother of Drew Gilbert, who had been born to Amanda's first husband. Some time before the events of the film, Amanda's first husband had presumably divorced her. Amanda had since went on to marry Gus Gilbert, the sheriff of Ludlow, Maine. Gus, however, proved to be an disloyal husband, displaying mildly inappropriate sexual behavior towards Amanda and being overly strict and somewhat abusive towards Drew.
One night, Gus shoots and kills Drew's pet dog Zowie when he disturbs his pet rabbits. Drew asks his friend Jeff to help him bury the dog in the local Mi'kmaq burial ground to see if the rumors are true that it can resurrect the dead. Zowie does indeed return from the dead, but he is uncharacteristically aggressive upon his revival. Later, on Halloween night in 1992, ends up killing Gus, whom Jeff and Drew subsequently bury at the Indian cemetery. Gus returns to life as expected; he now moves stiffly and rarely speaks, and becomes increasingly crude over time, but seeing as he now seems to be treating Drew better, the boys pay no mind to it.
Death[]
In November 7, 1992, Drew witnesses Gus murdering the town's local bully, Clyde Parker. Gus chases Drew into their house, where the kid manages to escape through a window just after Amanda arrives home. As Drew gets into her car, Gus leaps onto the windshield, and the two immediately begin to drive away. Gus pursues the two in his police car, and eventually chases up to them, where he kills Amanda and Drew by ramming their car into the path of an oncoming potato truck.
