Biography

Abra was born with very powerful psychic abilities, like her uncle Dan. Her abilities are even greater than Dan's were at his peak, to the point where she was able to generate a small earthquake with her mind. She physically meets Dan in her teenage years, though she begins psychically communicating with him almost from the moment she was born. 

Appearance

In the book, she has blue eyes and blond hair framing her face and spilling over her shoulders. Dan notes that she is "pretty, but not beautiful", except her wide-set eyes; he believes that she will be a heart-breaker in five years.

In the film adaptation, she has dark skin, long black hair and is a slim build.

Doctor Sleep

Abra is the main target of Rose the Hat and her group, the True Knot. Working together with her family, Dan and his friends, she is able to defeat the True Knot in a battle of wits and psychic power.

Powers

Abra's powers share Danny Torrance's in nature: She is gifted with "the shining", a psychic gift of potency varying between individuals and that fluctuate over time. She is stated outright to be much more powerful than Danny in his prime, despite the latter being considered quite strong by normal standards. From a young age, she generated a small earthquake with her mind, and in the movie she is seen levitating a large number of spoons without any visible signs of exertion.

Abra's powers are so great that even Rose the Hat doesn't consider the idea of "turning her". She is able to perform psychometry on objects without much focus, can read minds and astral project herself across the country. She can easily talk to someone in their head, something she did with Danny early on despite never meeting him in person at that time. She could also counter Rose's psychic attack and damage her from afar, penetrate Rose’s own mind, and later learn in the movie how to seal The Overlook ghosts away.
